Influences who shaped me, and what I offer

I am here in Athens, Georgia, home of UGA, where my daughter, Amber Grace, is almost finished with her college years.
So, I think about when I was in college, and what was going on for me. I took only courses I thought had meaning and in one such course, we were asked to read Marshall McLuhan, The Meaning is the Message. From there, I learned about the two sides of the brain, the left side controlling the right side of the body and influencing linear, sequential thinking process and the right side of the brain controlling the left side of the body and influencing our feeling, more sensitive side.
I decided at that point, to stop going to college, and do what I could to develop the feeling side of my brain. We also read mahatama Gandhi's autobiography, which led me to become an instant vegetarian. I say that, because I feel eating lighter on the food chain, encourages more room for one to feel one's feelings.
After traveling in Europe for a year I then found my way back to New England to study macrobiotic cooking with Michio Kushi in a study house for this purpose in Boston, Mass. I am reminded by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, how much respect I have for my Japanese ancestors, and Michio Kushi was such a master and probably still is, of bringing the spirit of such pristine tradition and respect for Nature's laws into the kitchen.
Then, in 1972, I learned meditation from Prem Rawat, the young spiritual teacher who came from India when he was 13 years old and I continue to practice what he showed me and love that I can! Anyone who practices this path of Knowledge knows, there really are no words to express how significant it is to be able to consistently go within one's self for strength, nourishment, comfort, fulfillment and a deep peace.
And so, this is what I bring to the table, is years of undoing the complications of being a part of our complex world and learning to FEEL the flow of energy in the present moment through reflexology and chair massage.
Reflexology is pressure point massage, especially on the feet. While I was traveling through Europe, a young lady from France, named Junie Vestusto, massaged my feet in her apt in Trastavery, Roma. Afterwards, I cleaned her kitchen and as much of her home as I could and sat quietly on her sofa to see if maybe she would do it again. I was shocked that something so simple, so natural, could feel SO GOOD! And so, I knew I would do whatever I needed to, to learn how to do that for myself, so I could one day, offer it to others. Michio Kushi, in the following years, after that day in Italy, was always so happy to teach us a new pressure point, so we would recognize them for ourselves, what point relates to the liver, or kidneys etc. It was such an exciting process, as it is to do reflexology for me now.
